Everyone is talking about Colleen Hoover books, and yes, I do understand the hype– but there are other authors who are worthy of Booktok yet they haven’t reached that point yet. Recently, I have seen a lot of readers ask for book recommendations similar to Colleen Hoover books, so if you are one of them, then this is for you!
Ana Huang writes New Adult and contemporary romance. I admit that I have only read this series: Twisted Love, Twisted Game, Twisted Hate, and Twisted Lies. The first thing I loved about it was that it comes as a series. Often, after reading a good book, I am stuck with the thought that nothing will compare. In this case, however, each book narrates a different story. There are four friends, four books, four love interests.
Unlike Colleen Hoover, Huang’s writing is a bit more explicit. Most of her stories, fall under the good girl falls for bad guy trope– which is personally one of my favorite. However, the plots and characters are very different to one another which I believe to be hard to accomplish when working with such similar dynamics like that of Alex and Christian.
Twisted Love
This is definitely my favorite book of the whole series! Alex is a billionaire whose heart knows nothing about love. Ava is his best friend’s sister, but when he is given the responsibility of checking up on her while her brother moves away, he begins to see her as more than that.
Twisted Game
Bridget is a real-life princess studying in the United States. Like most princesses, she has a body guard. He is her trusted friend, but when her body guard gets changed and Rhys replaces him, everything changes.
Twisted Hate
Josh, Ava’s brother, always hated Jules, Ava’s best friend. Theirs begins as a physical arrangement since they both have busy lives and no times for relationships, but they soon realize that hate can turn into love.
Twisted Lies
This one was released only a couple days ago! When Stella asks her landowner to decrease her rent, he does it. They barely know each other, yet he becomes her major support system. They have common friends, but everyone knows neither of them believes in love– and Christian is more than just a pretty face.
